Luciano Fagnola, book craftsman, has been working in the field of bookbinding for over forty years. A pupil of talented masters at the Salesian Graphics School of Colle Don Bosco, he has been able to integrate his training with High Level of Specialization courses at the Centro del Bel Libro in Ascona, and with complementary skills in papermaking, printing techniques and mechanics of working equipment.
He has collaborated with artists of international fame, such as Ugo Nespolo, Guido Giordano, Francesco Casorati, Giuseppe Uncini, Ferdinando Texidor, Aldo Mondino, Francesco Musante and with young artists such as Irene Bedino, Luca Bosio, and Samantha Farina for the creation of design bindings that have taken part in international exhibitions in Italy, France, Belgium, England, United States, and have been displayed in solo exhibitions in some prestigious bookshops in Turin.
Since 1981, he has been the owner of Bottega Fagnola, a craft workshop that, thanks to its extended competence and versatility, ranges in various sectors, from craft bookbinding to boxmaking, conservation and printing. Not to mention fine and design bookbinding, which includes the works that bear his personal and exclusive signature.
Master bookbinder and teacher, he complements the craft activity with the that of teacher, both to bring the public closer to the world of books, and to train young people in the profession of bookbinder and conservator.
He has passed on his passion for his work also to his daughter Paola, who continues the path in the book’s arts.
